Have you been looking for a way to give back to the community or lend a helping hand, but just don’t know how? We’ve got the answer you’ve been looking for:
volunteer.
By volunteering—as a mentor, a tutor, a coach, at an afterschool program, or in another capacity—you can offer youth the kind of attention, guidance and support that they need to build a successful future. Volunteering is a great way to build your own skills and talents to help meet the needs of youth in our community. Organizations sponsoring volunteer programs make sure that you have all the support and help you need to do a great job. You’ll discover how much you can learn and be inspired, just by spending time with youth!

Intentional Mentoring
Intentional Mentoring is a Today’s Girls…Tomorrow’s Leaders (TGTL) program which strives to build nurturing relationships to effectively meet the needs of girls. It creates group mentoring programs that serve girls’ social and emotional well-being through the development of positive, supportive relationships with caring adults. The three-tiered approach trains staff members at TGTL -funded agencies to serve as mentors, works with their organizations to integrate the mentor model, and reaches out to the community and recruits women to volunteer as mentors.

Youth Ventures
United Way’s Youth Venture Program inspires and invests in teams of young people, ages 12-18, to start social projects that create positive, lasting change in their communities. Youth participate in a “Dream It. Do It.” training workshop where they work in teams to develop an idea and learn how to write a business plan. Teams then present their plans to a selection panel and the strongest proposals are provided seed funding up to $1,000, guidance, tools, and support from adult allies to successfully implement their plans.
